The Force Awakens. No shit ...

So. I watched "The Force Awakens" on 21st Dec 2015. About a week after the local release. So why didn't I queue with the rest of the crazies on 17th Dec 2015 during the premiere?

Truth be told, I haven't really been a big "Star Wars" since I was a kid. Episode IV (A New Hope) came out in 1977 and I only popped out of my mother's "vajayjay" in 1979. Sure, I've seen Episode IV (A New Hope), V (The Empire Strikes Back) and VI (Return Of The Jedi). Then of course I watched Episodes I to III (The Phantom Menace, Attack Of The Clones, Revenge Of The Sith)

I really got into the other show with "Star" in the title sometime in the 1990s. Yup. I was more of a Trekkie.

Yet somehow, the release of the latest installment of the series, woke something in me. Toys, t-shirts, social media sharing. I was down with the "Star Wars" fever. So I guess "The Force Awakens"?

I had some  annual leave to clear and decided to watch the movie. The missus doesn't really like watching movies in the theater but expects to participate in my activities. After some prior discussion, she decided on the date/time and I booked the tickets last week.

Prior to that, I even got custom t-shirts printed out to dress up to watch this movie. Actually, I also got new t-shirts cause:

a) a lot of my "going out" t-shirts are pretty much ruined
b) they were kind of cheap

Long story short, we almost missed the movie because:

a) we left the house late and was circling the parking lot and couldn't find an empty parking space. Show time was 3:00 pm and we left about 1:45 pm. And we only live about 10 mins from the mall

b) the missus and I got into an argument about something (another story for another time) before we left the house. While backing the car out of the driveway, I thought my chances of watching the movie was basically nada.

So, the entire time I was looking for parking, we were arguing. Threats of not wanting to watch the movie,  accused of something that was possibility not my fault etc really spoilt the mood.

We hadn't eaten lunch, and it was almost 2:40 pm. The missus cooled down and we ate kinda shitty food from the concession stand. The new promotional Cheesy Popcorn is pretty decent though.

In the end, we managed to catch the movie without major incident. She later confessed that she quite liked it. And NO, she has never seen any of the  previous "Star Wars" movies as far as I'm aware.

So, movie date "night" almost turned to shit. Guess I used the Force and managed to turn things around. Or the Angels will be watching over me.

This is not a movie review, nor is it a spoiler post. So go enjoy the movie, and "May The Force Be With You"!
